Abstract

Abstract Alcoholism or alcoholism is a condition characterized by the habit of consuming excessive alcohol. Alcohol addiction can cause significant stress on the body and result in serious health problems. These addictions make a person's life saturated and feel there is no purpose in life, they want to change and stop consuming alcohol by getting closer to God and looking for a pious environment. This research uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. The research technique of the subject in this study was purposive sampling. The target respondents in this study were former alcoholics who had stopped completely for a minimum of 6 months in the Jagaseama Community and were willing to become respondents in this study by signing an informed consent. Then the respondents were four men. The results of the study showed that the meaningfulness of the life of the former alcoholic was that the subject felt his life was more meaningful after knowing the religion and meeting pious friends who asked for kindness and reminded the subject if committing violations that were prohibited by religion. The purpose of life of the subject is more priority to the afterlife but does not leave the world as a whole. Keywords: alcohol, former alcoholic, meaningfulness of life.
