Abstract
The development that occurred in the city of Surakarta led to an increase in land use changes which had an effect on the availability of green open space (RTH) areas. The presence of reduced green open space causes an increase in temperature and humidity, which affects the comfort level of the environment in an area. This research aims to; (1) knowing the distribution of green open space (RTH) in Surakarta City in 2019 (2) knowing the environmental comfort index in Surakarta City in 2019 (3) analyzing the spatial relationship between green open space (RTH) and the comfort index in Surakarta City in 2019. The method in this research is to use a field survey method to determine the distribution of green open space (RTH) and air humidity data, as well as using Landsat-8 imagery as a source of air temperature data. The analytical method used is quantitative descriptive analysis, spatial analysis and using the temperature-humidity index (THI) method to determine the level of comfort quantitatively. The results of this study indicate that the availability of green open space in the city of Surakarta is 8.47% of its area with a percentage of public green open space of 8.33% and private green open space of 0.13%, the area of green open space can be said to be far from the standard of green open space. which has been determined in the law by 30%. The comfort index for Surakarta City based on the THI calculation consists of 2 classes, namely the comfortable class and the uncomfortable class which are spread over 5 sub-districts, namely Banjarsari and Jebres Districts, which are in the comfortable category with an average THI of 28 and Laweyan, Serengan and Pasar Kliwon Districts are included. in the uncomfortable category with an average THI of 29. The relationship between the area of green open space and the THI value using the Pearson correlation method of -0.3060, which means that the wider the available green space, the lower the THI value or the more comfortable the environment in an area.
