Abstract
Surakarta is the third-largest city in the southern part of Java after Bandung and Malang by population. The city of Surakarta has experienced a trend of increasing temperatures from 2012 to 2015 and decreasing in 2016. An increase in temperature in Surakarta will affect the existence of the Urban Heat Island phenomenon. This research was conducted with the aim of 1). Analyzing the trend of the UHI phenomenon in the city of Surakarta in 2000, 2010, and 2019. 2). Identifying the relationship between vegetation density and UHI in Surakarta. The method used in this research is the secondary data processing method with Landsat 5, 7, and 8 image processing in each year and regression test. Image processing includes LST extraction, UHI calculations, and also NDVI. The regression test was carried out by comparing the UHI with vegetation density. The results of this study are 1). UHI in the city of Surakarta fluctuates in each research year up to 3.2oC in 2000, 3.0oC in 2010, and 4.3oC in 2019. 2). The regression test results show that the vegetation density is negative or inversely proportional to the UHI. The value of R2 in 2000 was 52%, while in 2010 it was 72%, and in 2019 it was 44%.
