Abstract

This study aims to: 1) Describe the practice of juvenile red cross extracurricular activities so far; 2) Describe the characteristics of strengthening social care characters through extracurricular activities of the juvenile red cross 3) Describe Barriers to strengthening social care characters through extracurricular activities of juvenile red cross. This research was conducted at SMP Muhammadiyah 10 Surakarta. Data collection methods in this study used interviews, observation, and documentation. Indicators of social care in this study are: 1) treating others politely; 2) tolerance there are differences 3) Want to listen to others; 4) Want to share. The validity of the data in this study uses technical triangulation and source triangulation. Data analysis techniques in this study used the Interactive model method. The results showed that: 1) Extracurricular juvenile Red Cross was carried out through planning consisting of semester, monthly and weekly activities. In the implementation of the implementation of adolescent red cross activities guided by the Basic Principles and Methods of absurdly excessive 2) the reinforcement characteristics of social care characters can be strengthened through treating others politely, tolerance of differences, willing to listen to others and want to share; 3) Obstacles in strengthening social care character through extracurricular teenage red cross, namely the lack of Youth Red Cross coaches at Muhammadiyah 10 Middle School Surakarta, hours of extracurricular activities are too late so that students have started to fatigue because the sun is too hot, and the teacher's instructor learned to explore self-taught material. Based on these results it can be concluded that the extracurricular activities of the Youth Red Cross are very influential in strengthening the social care character of students in SMP Muhammadiyah 10 Surakarta.
