Abstract

Hypertension is a serious public health problem that one of the major causes of death in the world. This disease is called silent killer. Smoking behaviours are one of the causes of hypertension. Hypertension in adulthood can result in decreased productivity and quality of life in the future. In Indonesia the prevalence of hypertension is increased from 2013 to 2018. This literature review aims to determine the correlation between smoking behaviours with the incident of hypertension among adult in Indonesia. The design of this study was literature review. The source of the literature was obtained from search engine in SINTA and portal garuda site with the design of the literature is crossectional and case control approach. The inclusion criteria in this literature was the article that published between 2015-2020, fulltext accessible in Indonesian language, National journal with ISSN and the age of respondents are 26-45 years. The result oh this literature review showed that there are a correlation between smoking behaviours with the incident of hypertension, but the duration of smoking, type of cigarettes and the amount of cigarettes not correlated with the incident of hypertension. Suggestion that can be given are promotive and preventive action to change the society behaviours.
