Abstract

The 2013 curriculum is designed with the characteristics that are to develop a balance between developing attitudes, spirituality, social, curiosity, creativity, and cooperation. At SDN 1 Gunungsari, the thematic learning of the teacher uses a discovery learning model. In this model students obtain various learning outcomes such as knowledge, attitudes, and skills. By using the dicovery learning model, students are expected to be able to understand, identify, process data, and conclude the information obtained appropriately, and be able to improve problemsolving and creative thinking skills. The purpose of this study was to identify and describe the improvement of problem solving skills and creative thinking skills using discovery learning models in the fourth grade science subject content of SDN 1 Gunungsari. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative using interview, documentation and observation data collection techniques. The research subjects were the principal, classroom teachers and fourth grade students of SD Negeri 1 Gunungsari. Data collection techniques in this study include interviews, observation and documentation. Data analysis techniques used include reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. While the validity of the data used source triangulation and technique triangulation. Discovery learning models can improve solving skills and creative thinking by seeing good student learning outcomes. By learning to use the group model, students can exchange ideas and opinions with friends so that students can foster a sense of solidarity in each of them.
