Abstract
Cyberprotest is a phenomenon of democracy that occurs along with the development of communication technology. Twitter as social media has become one of the communication channels of social movements in Indonesia. One of the cyberprotest is JMPPK (Jaringan Masyarakat Peduli Pegunungan Kendeng) Rembang with its account @omahekendeng. JMMPK Rembang is a social movement group that rejects the construction of a cement factory in Rembang. The purpose of this paper is to discuss cyberprotest in Indonesia based on the case of the Rembang JMPPK. This study is a literature review that compares data from twitter accounts with related theories and concepts using content analysis. The results of the analysis show that Twitter can function as a limited public space by social movement groups. Cyberprotest conducted by the Rembang JMPPK included in the category of movements supported by the internet is not a movement based on the main social media. Twitter is used by this group to convey informative messages to their followers.
