Abstract

Rehabilitation is one of the programs to solve the problem of prostitutes. Wanodyatama Surakarta Women's Social Institution is a temporary residence for prostitutes to restore their rights and social functions in society. This study aims to determine the meaning of rehabilitation given by prostitutes in PPSW Wanodyatama Surakarta. The method used in this study is a qualitative method, the informants in this study are 4 prostitutes who currently undergoing the rehabilitation process at PPSW Wanodyatama Surakarta and 1 social worker. This research use purposive sampling, the data collection techniques use in-depth interviews and observation. The results of this study included different meanings among prostitutes regarding rehabilitation who also gave different directions about their attitudes and behavior towards the rehabilitation process. successes, failures and violations in rehabilitation cannot be separated from the meaning given by prostitutes to the program. Interaction and communication in groups gives an impact on their actions in the rehabilitation process
