Abstract

This research was conducted aimed at analyzing students' mistakes in solving Three Dimensional Vector problems with the cognitive style types Field Independent (FI) and Field Dependent (FD) based on indicators of critical thinking skills. Critical thinking ability consists of 5 indicators, namely (1) Providing simple explanations (elementary clarification), (2) Building basic skills (basic support), (3) Determining strategy and tactics (strategy and tactics), (4) Making further explanation (advances clarification), and (5) Making inferences. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive study. The study was conducted by students of class XI AKP by taking 6 students as research subjects. Data collection techniques using tests and interviews. The validity of the data used by the technique triangulation method. Data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that the errors of the Field Independent (FI) type were on indicators (1) Making further clarification (advances clarification) and (2) Making inferences. Field Dependent (FD) type students make mistakes on indicators (1) Provide a simple explanation (elementary clarification), (2) Building basic skills (basic support), (3) Determine strategies and tactics (strategies and tactics), (4) Making further explanation (advances clarification), and (5) Making inferences.
