Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the steps of planning, implementation, and form of supervision in the management of character education through school culture in SMP Muhammadiyah Darul Arqom Karanganyar. This research uses a qualitative approach with an athnographycal research design. The subjects of the study were the principal, teachers and students of SMP Muhammadiyah Darul Arqom Karanganyar. Data collection methods for in-depth interviews, observation and documentation, data analysis techniques using interactive analysis. Research results (1) Planning for character education through school culture in SMP Muhammadiyah Darul Arqom Karanganyar is designed based on the vision and mission of the school which is managed by the appointed teacher or officer. The steps are (a) identifying types of habituation activities that can realize character education, (b) planning the development of character education materials for each type of activity in school, (c) planning character education programs through school culture. (d) Prepare supporting facilities and teacher readiness in implementing character education programs through school culture. (2) Implementation of Character Education through school culture in SMP Muhammadiyah Darul Arqom Karanganyar by creating academic culture (morning literacy, language speech, study club and subject competition), socio-cultural culture (dhuha prayer, prayer reading at the beginning and at the end of learning, reading alma'tsurot, the activities of preaching rote Ramadhan memorizing the Koran), and democratic culture, namely the 3S program (smiles, greetings and greetings), flag ceremonies, deliberations and school infaq, containing values such as mutual respect, respect, help, tolerance. (3) Evaluation of Character Education through School Culture in SMP Muhammadiyah Darul Arqom Karanganyar is carried out by the school principal, school committee and parents of students by using data about activity reports, activity schedules, and by looking at the accountability of the implementing officer. The results of the evaluation of the implementation of the character education program through habituation in the SMP Muhammadiyah Darul Arqom Karanganyar in the academic year 2019/2020 in general have been achieved and can run optimally.
