Abstract

This study is about how social process and ambition are reflected in Agatha Christie’s novel Why they didn’t ask Evans?. The aim of this study is to describe the indicators of the social process, to analyze of character’s ambition, mention the form of ambition and to reveal the reason Agatha Christie illustrated the ambition in her novel. In analyzing this novel, the researcher uses Sociological approach and qualitative method. The study comes to the following conclusions. Firstly, the depiction of the social process is depicted through the plot and characters of the novel, there are two of social processes in human life, i.e. associative and dissociative. Secondly, the researcher describes the ambition on main character depicted on Bobby, Frankie, Bassington-ffrench and Moira character. Thirdly, the researcher mentions the forms of the ambition there are ambition to get wealth, honor, survive and solve the problem. And the last, the reason why the author writes the novel with the ambition is to grow souls in her novel, prove that ambition always appear on social life.
