Abstract
The issue of energy is the main focus of world problems in the current era of globalization. Renewable and environmentally friendly energy sources need to be developed to overcome the current energy crisis. Biomass can be an alternative energy to replace fossil fuels. One alternative that can be applied is the manufacture of biobriquettes from biomass. Organic waste such as rice husks can become biobriquettes because they contain 50% cellulose. In this study, egg shells were also used as raw material because they contain lime in the form of CaCO3. Lime effectively increases the calorific value of the briquette. What is used is starch. The making of biobriquettes is carried out in several stages, they are: material preparation, carbonization, refining, mixing, and molding. The variables to be used are the effect of the composition of rice husks and eggshells (0: 100; 25:75; 50:50; 75:25; 100: 0) in% mass and carbonization temperature (300; 350; 400; 450) in ˚C. The carbonization time was carried out for 2 hours and the size of the mashed ash was 60 mesh. The biobriquette produced will be tested to measure the calorific value and the proximate value of the biobriquette.
