Abstract

Character education is currently very important in educational institutions. Character education is one of the efforts in overcoming the problems of the nation's children today. Like cheating on exams, lazy to study, brawl, promiscuity, ditching and others. So schools do not only develop students 'academics but also have to develop students' character. The purpose of this study was to determine the implementation of student character education through school culture at SMAN 1 Ngemplak Boyolali in the academic year 2019/2020. This type of research is a descriptive qualitative research by taking place at SMAN 1 Ngemplak. The subjects of the study were school residents consisting of school principals, teachers, students and staff at SMAN 1 Ngemplak. Data collection techniques carried out by observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques with interactive model analysis according to Miles and Huberman which include data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions or verification. The validity of the data of this study uses triangulation techniques consisting of source triangulation and technique triangulation. The results showed that the implementation of character education at SMAN 1 Ngemplak was an effort to shape the personality of students through the culture of the school so that students had character in accordance with the vision of the school. (1) Character values instilled in students at SMAN 1 Ngemplak include religious values, disciplined and disciplined values, honest values, environmental care values, social values, reading values, creative values, democratic values, values of hard work, and confident value. (2) school culture implemented to carry out character education at SMAN 1 Ngemplak is clean culture, orderly culture, disciplined culture, literacy culture, caring culture, hard work culture, honest culture (integrity pact), religious culture, creative culture, motivational culture , 5S culture (smile, greeting, greetings, courtesy, courtesy), culture 18-21, culture of earth friend, culture of language. English, democratic culture, excellent service culture and healthy culture.
