Abstract

Indonesia is currently facing a big health problems, especially non-communicable diseases, namely the high prevalence of hypertension. Nutritional status is one of the risk factors that play a role in body metabolism and changes in blood pressure, especially excess nutrition. The purpose of this literature review is to determine the extent to which the results of studies on nutritional status and incidence of hypertension can be implicated as a basis for policy makers to make preventive efforts. This research was conducted by using a literature review method with the data sources in the form of original articles published in journals through the Sinta Ristekdikti electronic database and Garuda Portal. The searching for articles used keywords namely "Hypertension", "High Blood Pressure", "Nutritional Status", "Body Mass Index", "Obesity" and "Overweight".The results obtained were six articles that met the inclusion criteria. Of the six articles reviewed, all concluded that there was a relationship between nutritional status and the incidence of hypertension. Women are more at risk of developing hypertension because as they get older, the less estrogen levels in the body are followed by decreasing levels of Hight Density Lipids. So that this can make the nutritional status measured by the body mass index become obese. HDL functions to maintain healthy blood vessels and prevent atherosclerosis. As an effort to prevent the government from making the Community Movement GERMAS program to live a healthy life as an effort to reduce the prevalence of non-communicable diseases, which includes eating fruits and vegetables, periodic health checks such as blood pressure, height and weight and diet-related programs by implementing the 4 pillars of nutrition balanced through "ISI PIRINGKU”.
