Abstract

Purwosari Station or often abbreviated to PWS is a large-class train station located at Jalan Slamet Riyadi, Purwosari, Laweyan District, Surakarta City. This station is included in the VI Operation Region of Yogyakarta and only serves economy class trains crossing the south and local / commuter only. Based on the results of research conducted by the author in 2019, it turns out there are still some public spaces that do not yet exist or public spaces that are less comfortable for Purwosari Station users. Therefore, the writer will redesign the interior (several public spaces) in Purwosari Station. The spaces include: hall, waiting room, local and long-distance train counters, customer service, ticket printing, local and long-distance train check-in counters, children's playground, nursing room, infirmary, toilet, mosque, ATM Center, mini market, food court, gift shop, stairs, elevator, generator room, AHU & Chiller room, and MEE room. This redesign uses the vernacular architecture approach where the redesign does not change the initial shape of the old building because the Purwosari Station building enters into the cultural heritage building.
