Abstract

Background: stroke is a disease associated with the cerebrovascular system (CVA) or stroke can cause changes in breathing frequency and ventilation. this is caused by a decrease in the strength of the diaphragm and abdominal muscles. Resulting in a decrease in the performance of the phrenic center which causes the use of respiratory support muscles such as excess and asymmetrical constituent muscles. Objective: to determine the relationship between lung function and Trunk control in post-stroke patients. Research Method: This research uses a descriptive observational research with cross sectional approach where measurements of lung function are carried out on the FEV1 and FVC using spirometry and trunk control using Trunk Impairment Scale (TIS) with samples used by 30 post-stroke patients. Research Results: the results of the study were analyzed using the product moment correlation test to get the p-value of 0,000. Conclusion: From the results of this study it can be concluded that there is a relationship between lung function and trunk control in post-stroke patients.
