Abstract
Regional libraries are obliged to exist, one of which is a city library, Surakarta has a regional library that is still limited in the field of technology and library materials. The development of the Surakarta City library is not yet in line with the digital and millennial era now as the times develop. The construction of the library is equipped with co-working and creative public space in the form of a city library responding to the development of the times and the needs of today's society. The construction of the Surakarta City Library with co-working and creative public space aims to provide stimulus to the community to come to the city library and again increase public interest in literacy and education. Communities active in literacy and education will have an impact on improving the quality of community resources. The architectural approach used is deconstruction which is expected to bring a new face and point of interest in the city library building. The construction of the city library uses the relocation method because the existing library has limited land area and less strategic location. Literature study is used to design libraries in accordance with applicable regulations such as laws and SNIs on city / district libraries. Case studies are used as a reference in the development of libraries with cases of regional libraries in the country and regional libraries that are equipped with co-working space abroad. The development of the Surakarta City Library produced a technology-based library and became a center of community activity supported by the existence of co-working space and creative public space.
