Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine and analyze: (1) the significant influence of Realistic Mathematics Education approach based on the Learning Cycle on mathematics learning outcomes, (2) the significant influence of student’s critical thinking skills on mathematics learning outcomes, (3) the interaction between Realistic Mathematics Education approach based on the Learning Cycle and student’s critical thinking skills on mathematics learning outcomes. This type of research based on the approach is quantitative research with a quasi-experimental design. The population in this study were all eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Gatak in the academic year 2019/2020. The samples taken in this study were two classes, the experimental class with Realistic Mathematics Education approach based on Learning Cycle and the control class with a Realistic Mathematics Education approach. The sampling technique uses cluster random sampling. Data collection techniques with the method of tests, questionnaires and documentation. The analysis technique used is the analysis of variance of the two unequal cell paths. Based on the results of the study with a significance level of 5% obtained: (1) there is the influence of Realistic Mathematics Education approach based on the Learning Cycle to mathematics learning outcomes. Realistic Mathematics Education approach based on the Learning Cycle has the best mathematics learning outcomes. (2) there is no influence of student's critical thinking skills on mathematics learning outcomes. (3) there is no interaction between Realistic Mathematics Education approach based on the Learning Cycle and student's critical thinking skills on mathematics learning outcomes.
