Abstract
Crime is a form of lawlessness and is detrimental to society. Conventional crime dominates in the Province of DIY, one of which is the case of motor vehicle theft. Sleman Regency is the biggest contributor to the highest crime. Spatio-temporal analysis can be used to represent the intensity of crime according to the location and time of occurrence simultaneously. Analysis using the Kernel Density Estimation and buffer methods. The research aims to find out: (1) Spatial distribution of the motor vehicle theft in Sleman Regency in 2017-2019. (2) Analyzing a hotspot spatio-temporal pattern of of the motor vehicle theft in Sleman Regency in 2017-2019. (3) Analyzing the relationship between the level of the motor vehicle theft in Sleman Regency in 2017-2019 with the characteristic crime scene. The data used in this study is the data of the motor vehicle theft crime scene coordinates obtained from the geocoding process of crime scenes and the characteristic coordinates of locations around the crime scene (police stations, market and mall, university, and main roads). The result of this study is the motor vehicle theft distribution map, the spatial pattern map of the motor vehicle theft hotspots, the spatio-temporal map of the motor vehicle theft hotspots, distance map influence of location on motor vehicle theft intensity, and the scatterplot diagram. Distribution of the motor vehicle theft locations is centralized in urban areas with high spatial pattern clusters located in Depok Sub-District, Mlati Sub-District, and Gamping Sub-District. Hotspots of spatio-temporal patterns with clusters of high intensity are in part Depok Sub-District, especially in Caturtunggal Village and Condongcatur Village that have a high crime intensity each class time event. This is because it is close to urban areas that have high societal activities associated with the distances between market locations and malls, colleges, and main roads.
