Abstract

Literary work is considered a form and result of creativity, which is basically a medium that uses language to express life in society. This study aims to: (1) describe the building structure in the novel Nun pada Sebuah Cermin by Afifah Afra (2) Describe the values of character education contained in the novel Nun pada Sebuah Cermin by Afifah Afra with sociology of literature review, (3) Compile materials teaching from the results of research on the values of character education in the novel Nun pada Sebuah Cermin by Afifah Afra which is adapted to the literary learning device in grade VIII SMP. The method in this research is descriptive qualitative. The data in this study are the values of character education in terms of the sociology of literature found in the novel Nun pada Sebuah Cermin by Afifah Afra. The primary data source in this study is the novel Nun pada Sebuah Cermin by Afifah Afra, published by the Republika publisher in the first printing in September 2015 with a thickness of 370 pages and a paper size of 13.5x20.5 cm. Secondary data sources in this study are articles obtained from internet sources. The data collection techniques used in this study were library, listening, and reading techniques. The data validity technique in this study used theoretical triangulation. Based on the analysis carried out, it can be concluded as follows: (1) the structure of the novel includes themes, characters and characterizations, settings, and plot / plot, (2) the values of character education in the novel Nun pada Sebuah Cermin by Afifah Afra which includes , (3) the implementation of the results of the research on the values of character education as teaching materials for SMP class VIII with KD 3.11 "Identifying information in text reviews about the quality of works (films, short stories, poetry, novels, and regional artwork) that are read or played" . The KD is adjusted to Permendikbud number 37 of 2018. Keywords: values of character education, sociology of literature, teaching materials
