Abstract
Kartasura is a city located in Kartasura District, Sukoharjo Regency, with a population density of 543,295 people and an area of 1,923 hectares. Kartasura also took part in a brief history until the establishment of a cultural heritage site in the area of the Kartasura Palace. However, currently the main building is gone, only remaining petilasan and several houses in the palace complex. There are many reliable potentials in this region. In addition to presenting historical values visually, this area can also be developed into a tourist attraction that is more than just what is in the fortress area of the Kartasura Palace. Therefore it is necessary to develop the Kartasura Palace area by revitalizing it so that the area can be a creative historical and educational tourism destination and can be recognized by the wider community with high historical value. Based on the problems that have been described, the objectives to be achieved are planning and designing the development of the Kartasura Palace area which can be used as a tourism destination based on historic and educative creative tourism by implementing revitalization conservation. In planning the development of the palace area carries the concept of creative tourism, where there is space and educational activities to realize a visitor's interaction with the community. The result of this planning and design is the realization of the development of the Keras Kartasura area based on creative tourism in the form of historical museum buildings, souvenir centers, culinary centers, and supporting facilities.
