Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe: (1) The Pattern of Character Formation of Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) Assalam Dompu NTB Students. (2) Character values embedded in Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) Assalam Dompu NTB. (3) Constraints in Character Building for Madrasah Students (MTs) Assalam Dompu NTB. This research is a descriptive qualitative research with a design using a phenomenological approach. The collection technique is done by observation, interviews, documentation, notes, and recordings. The data analysis technique is done by collecting data, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study can be concluded that, (1) the pattern of students' character formation is done by the teacher by asking to make slogans of Islam, train students to lecture, advise on faith and piety, ask students to recite before learning and think after learning, teachers use ice breaking, punishes when making a mistake, the teacher appears as a preacher, memorizing the Koran, the practice of preaching around, and natural tadabbur. (2) the character values instilled in students are religious, independent, integrity, mutual cooperation, and nationalist character values. (3) obstacles in the formation of student character that is seen obstacles to the teacher, to students, and in terms of infrastructure. Keywords: formation patterns, characters, students
