Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out the experience of English Foreign Language (EFL) teachers in the Muhammadiyah school environment and their obstacles in teaching English from a phenomological perspective. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. The subject of this research is the EFL teachers and the object of the study is the experience of their teaching. Data collection was carried out with interview techniques and questionnaires. The data analysis in this study was carried out inductively, namely: an analysis technique that takes place from facts and theories. The results of this study indicate that the experience of the teaching of English by the teachers in Muhammadiyah school environment is a key factor in the success of learning and is demanded to be innovative and creative in understanding the character of students at every level. The obstacles in teaching English in the Muhammadiyah schools are the lack of supporting facilities such as language laboratories and dictionary translator tools, and students are proud of regional languages rather than English.
