Abstract

This study aims to (1) describe the intellectual aspects, (2) the contextual aspects of prisoners' autobiography in Class I prison in Surakarta and (3) the implications of the results of the analysis as Indonesian language teaching materials in high school. This research is a qualitative research. The design of this research is content analysis. The data in this study are in the form of words, phrases, clauses and sentences of prisoners' autobiographies that contain textual and contextual analysis. The data source used in this study is the autobiographical text of prisoners Class IA Surakarta. Data collection techniques in research using documentation, note taking, and library techniques. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling. Data validation uses the theory triangulation technique. The data analysis technique uses the referential and referential matching method with replace, repeat, paraphrase, expand and read markers. Based on the results and discussion concluded first, based on the textual aspects there are (1) grammatical cohesion including designation or reference, substitution or substitution, concatenation or conjunction, and impregnation or ellipsis. (2) Lexical cohesion includes repetition or repetition, synonymy or synonym, antonymy or word resistance, hyponymy or top-down relationship, collocation or word sanding, equivalence or absence. (3) Coherence relationships consist of fifteen relationships covering reasons; additive time streak; non time additives; amplicative; paraphrastic; cause and effect; background-conclusions; alahan; equation; contention; concessions; purpose facilities; terms of results; facilities and results; emphasis or affirmation. Second, the results of the analysis of this study are relevant to language learning in the revised edition 2013 curriculum class XII high school with basic competencies (KD) 4.4 Write personal history stories by paying attention to language.
