Abstract

This study has two objectives, (1) Identifying cohesion in the viral news section in the September-October 2019 edition of Solopos. (2) Identifying coherence in the viral news section in the September-October 2019 edition in the Solopos newspaper. (3) Implementing learning in Middle school on basic competence concludes the news content (boast and motivate) that is read and heard. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive study. The data source in this study is the September-October 2019 Solopos Newspaper. The data is cohesion and coherence in the viral news rubric in the September-October 2019 edition of the Solopos newspaper. The data collection technique in this study is to use the refer method and follow up using the note method. Data analysis techniques using the method of matching and agitating. Results of research on cohesion and coherence in the viral news section in the Solopos newspaper. Cohesion is divided into two namely grammatical cohesion and lexical cohesion. (1) Grammatical cohesion includes a. ellipsis nouns, b. substitution, c. conjunction. (2) Lexical cohesion includes a. equivalence, b. hyponym, c. synonymy, d. collocation, e. antonimi, f. repetition. Coherence includes a. chronological, b.logis, c. perian.
