Abstract

The case of death due to depression is the second-highest case after heart disease. Depression is an emotional disorder characterized by feeling depressed, guilty, sad, losing interest, and avoiding other people that can affect interpersonal relationships. The preventive way to avoid depression is by calming the soul from all kinds of inner problems. The study entitled “Fakhr Al-Diin Ar-Razi’s Interpretation of Nafs Mutma’innah in Tafsir Mafatih Al-Gaib” is a qualitative study with a psychological approach. The data analysis is conducted by analyzing the content of Tafsir Mafatih Al-Gaib specifically about Nafs Mutmainnah. Fakhr Al-Diin Al-Razi is an encyclopedic scholar. He intrepeted the Quran by using bilma’tsur interpretation approach and also very concerned about the language discipline when interpreting the Quran. Nafs Mutaminnah is a soul condition when it feels calm and peaceful since the body always worships Allah and the mind always remembers Him. The calm soul or Nafs Mutmainnah has three characteristics; feeling confident without any doubt toward the truth, do not feel afraid about everything, and the peace that is obtained by remembering Allah.
