Abstract

This study has 2 objectives: 1) Describe the sentence element errors found in the syntactic field in the essay description of Grade VII students of MTs Nurul Huda Plosorejo, 2) Describe the causes of language errors in the syntactic field in the description of VII grade students of MT Nurul Huda Plosorejo. The object of this research is syntactic error in the essay description of VII grade students of MTs Nurul Huda Plosorejo, Gondang Sragen. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with the data collection techniques see and note, and data analysis techniques using the method of covering the basic techniques or for direct elements (BUL) and advanced techniques. The results of this study indicate that 1) errors in the field of syntax when making essays of descriptions made by students of MTs Nurul Huda Plosorejo are divided into 9 errors namely nonstandard structured sentences 4 errors, ambiguous sentences 3 errors, unclear sentences 4 errors, unclear diction right in forming sentence 4 error, contamination sentence 2 error, coherence 2 error, word redundant 3 error, use of absorption words 1 error, and logic of sentence 4 error. 2) the cause of language errors in the syntactic field in the description essay because there are errors of non-standard structure, ambiguous sentences, unclear sentences, incorrect discourse, sentence contamination, coherence, redundant words, use of absorption words, and sentence logic.
