Abstract
This study aims to analyze and describe the pedagogical abilities of mathematics education students in developing knowledge assessment instruments as well as describing the difficulties faced by mathematics education students in developing knowledge assessment instruments in microteaching subjects in UMS mathematics education study programs. The aspects examined in this study are the suitability of learning indicators with knowledge assessment instruments, suitability of knowledge assessment instruments with time allocation, completeness of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) questions, completeness of knowledge assessment instruments with question lines, answer keys, and scoring guidelines. This type of research is a descriptive qualitative research subject of mathematics education students at the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. Data collection techniques used were documentation and interviews. The validity of the data using tenang triangulation. Data analysis techniques are done through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that the pedagogical ability of mathematics education students in developing knowledge assessment instruments had not been fully met from all aspects studied. In the aspect of conformity of learning indicators with the student's knowledge assessment instrument, it is still not appropriate because there are still some indicators that are not found in the knowledge assessment instrument. In the aspect of suitability of the knowledge assessment instrument with the time allocation of some student subjects is already suitable even though in the closing activities the subject did not list the instrument work activities. In the aspect of completeness of the Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) questions, some student subjects already have HOTS type questions, although the level of HOTS questions is still low. In the aspect of completeness of the instrument for the assessment of knowledge with the questions lattice of the six student subjects, only one student subject did not include the student lattice and guidelines used in making the grid based on Basic Competence (KD) and indicators as well as for aspects of the completeness of the answer key and scoring guidelines for students are available and are in accordance with the problem although some are not explained in detail. Difficulties experienced by students in developing knowledge assessment are adjustments between learning indicators with questions and the allocation of time used as well as making question instruments that are appropriate to students' abilities.
