Abstract
Background: Martial Arts (Indonesian: Pencak Silat) is one of the body contact sports from Indonesia. The techniques used are very diverse, such as punch, kick and slamming techniques or a combination of these. A martial arts athlete must have complex skills that are supported by good physical condition. In pencak silat it is very important to have a good balance. Because in pencak silat, kicking and slamming techniques is more favored in order to stay stable when making kick and slamming. The ability to maintain balance depends on core stability, back stability, vestibular system, visual, lower limbs, and pelvic muscle control. To improve balance, specific balance exercises or stability exercises can be done. There are many training methods that can be used to improve dynamic balance. One of them is core training which is designed to improve the ability of muscles such as internal oblique muscles and transverse abdominal muscles and improve balance ability. The purpose of this study: The research aims to know the effect of Core Stability Exercise on increasing the Dynamic Balance of Pencak Silat Athletes at the Students Activity Unit of Pencak Silat in Walisongo State Islamic University. Research material: this study involved 30 samples which were then drawn to be divided into 2 groups: the treatment group that got Core Stability Exercise and the control group without getting Core Stability Exercise, in this case, in accordance with conventional training. Methods: this study used a quasi-experimental research design using pre-test and post-test with control group design. Measurement of dynamic balance with the Y-Balance test. The results of the study: If the result obtained p value <0.050 then Ho is accepted and Ha is rejected. It means there is an influence of giving core stability exercise on increasing dynamic balance in the treatment group
