Abstract

Abstract In this modern era, education can no longer be separated from the role of technology, hence it becomes a trigger for educators to contribute in utilizing it as a medium in the process of learning and teaching activities. In Islamic Studies education, constraints often occur which result in learning being less effective. The existence of boredom in students, lack of attention in learning, and sleepiness arising in students when listening to teachers' explanation are signs indicating a lack of motivation to learn in students. This may occur due to the lack of using modern media in learning and teaching activities. Therefore, students need learning 2 media to increase their motivation to learn Islamic education. One of the way to do this is to utilize audio visual media. There are two objectives to be achieved in this research. (1) Describe the function of audio-visual media in increasing the motivation for learning Islamic Education in class VIII at SMP Negeri 9 Madiun. (2) Describe the supporting and inhibiting factors in using audio visual in increasing the learning motivation of PAI students of class VIII in SMP N 9 Madiun. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative research method. Data collection techniques carried out by observation, interview and documentation. To analyze the data used qualitative descriptive analysis method that starts from collecting data and reviewing all data from various sources (interviews, observations, and documentation), reducing the data, then filtering it according to the theory and problem formulation, the data presented in accordance with the narrative, and supports conclusions. The results of the research prove that the use of audio visual media that is done well or strongly is expected to improve the learning of PAI of VIII grade students at SMP Negeri 9 Madiun with indicators of students who were originally: (a) actively moving, (b) saturated and growing up spirit, (c ) crowded becomes calmer and more focused, (d) lack of understanding becomes more understanding of learning material. Besides audio-visual media also makes student knowledge more real and makes it easier for teachers to deliver material. Related to the inhibiting factors in applying audio visual consist of time limitation factor, tool limitation factor, factor limitation of IT educator ability and factors of different levels of students' understanding ability. Related to supporting factors in the application of audiovisual media is the availability of audio-visual media in SMP N 9 Madiun, there is a training program to make IT-based learning (Siber-IT) and BOS funds that can be used to provide infrastructure facilities at SMP N 9 Madiun.
