Abstract

This research about reduplication in the students essay describtion aims to (1) Identify the forms of reduplication in the students of class VII A SMP Muhammadiyah 5 Surakarta, (2) Explaining the meaning of reduplication contained in the essay description of class VII A SMP Muhammadiyah 5 Surakarta. This type of research is desriptive qualitative. The data source in this study is a describsion of class VII A SMP Muhammadiyah 5 Surakarta. Data collection tehniques and note teqniques. The data analisys tehnique used is BUL with the distribution method. Thme results of this study are (1) the forms of reduplication found in the essay description of grade class VII A SMP Muhammadiyah 5 Surakarta, there are four, namely (a) whole repetition, (b) partial repetition, (c) repetition with succes, (d) repetition with phoneme variatio ns. The majority of data reduplication found is repetition with succes. (2) The meaning of reduplication contained in students ‘essay is repeated action’, ‘many’, ‘uncoditionasl’, ‘situnations’, ‘mutual’, ‘nature’, ‘related things’, ‘intensity feeling’, ‘the highest level of superlative’, ‘also resembling. But the most known or found meaning is the meaning of ‘many’ and the meaning of ‘nature’.
