Abstract

Hisbah in the modern era, its task has been distributed among a large number of ministries and supervisory and control bodies, has subsided and is lacking, this is due to major changes in the structure and tasks of the state, which Islamic activists and organizations cannot carry out as they should, and this is the motivation and purpose of research on hisbah in the modern state and its application by Muhammadiyah. The inductive approach is the method used in this simple study. This study comes to the fact that Hisbah in the modern state is carried out through three aspects, first: Hisbah has become part of the law imposed by the modern state, second: the task of individuals in changing munkar is to try to change the applicable law in society, third: Continue to do Hisbah verbally and by heart, or someone can join the organization to express their opinions and ideas about everything that happens, that the implementation of Muhammadiyah's Hisbah focuses on three foundations: liberation, humanization, and transcendence. That among the methods used by Muhammadiyah in conducting Hisbah are: Inviting by example, choosing between three forms of rejection, paying attention to the conditions of the perpetrators and not differentiating them, Hisbah is a blessing for the universe, Hisbah as an effort to solve social problems. Then there are several applications of hisbah conducted by Muhammadiyah, including: Muhammadiyah's attitude towards occupation, Muhammadiyah's attitude towards the Christianization movement, Muhammadiyah's constitutional jihad, Muhammadiyah's attitude in religious conflict, extremism, and terrorism, finally Muhammadiyah's attitude in facing challenges and difficulties of proselytizing.
