Abstract

Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease in a type of poly arthritis that is characterized by swelling and pain and can cause joint damage. This disease is included in the class of chronic diseases. The prevalence of this disease in Indonesia in 2011 is estimated to reach 29.35%, in 2012 39.47% and 45.59% in 2013. This disease is more dominant in women than men with a ratio of 3: 1. Movement disorders in the limbs due to this disease can sometimes cause anxiety for sufferers. Family support can be one of the factors behind the high or low level of patient anxiety. Forms of family support can be emotional support, information support, appreciation support, and instrumental support. Objective: to find out whether there is a relationship between family support and anxiety levels of rheumatid arthritis sufferers in Mancasan Baki Village. Design: using descriptive correlative with cross sectional approach. Data collection by questionnaire. The sample of this study was rheumatoid arthritis sufferers in Mancasan Baki Village and met the inclusion criteria. Relationship data were processed using the spearman rho test Results: the results obtained were quite good family support by 97.9% and the results of the level of anxiety there was no anxiety of 87.5% with a value of p = 0.703> 0.05. Conclusion: there is no relationship between family support and anxiety level of patients with rheumatoid arthritis in Mancasan Village.
