Abstract

Every subject needs a test to measure the students’ achievements of materials that have been given by their teachers. To obtain the accurate information concerning the students’ achievement, the test which is given to the students must have the qualities or characteristics; they are practicality, reliability, and validity. The most important validity from the test is content validity. The objectives of this study are 1) to describe the content validity of Local English test items for grade eight students of SMP Negeri 2 Kebakkramat based on School Based Curriculum, 2) to describe the content validity of Local English test items for grade eight students of SMP Negeri 2 Kebakkramat distribution of their cognitive level. The primary data are Local English test items for the first and second semester test. The data were collected by finding and learning the test items, reading the test items to get more understanding, observing the test items, selecting and categorizing data, arranging and developing the selecting data. Then the data were analyzed by using indicators of School Based Curriculum and distribution of their cognitive levels. The result of this study shows that 1) the content validity of Local English test items corresponds with School Based Curriculum. It is based on the following evidences: a) Reading skill is good (69.23%) for the first semester and very good (100%) for second semester. b) Writing skill is very good (100%) for first semester and good (62.50%) for second semester. 2) The content validity of Local English test items does not correspond based on the distribution of their cognitive level of bloom’s taxonomy. It is based on the following evidences; a) the proportion of the distribution of their cognitive levels for the first semester is 31.11% for knowledge, 17.78% for comprehension, 33.33% for application, 0% for analysis, 17.78% for synthesis and 0% for evaluation. b) The proportion of second semester test is 52% for knowledge, 2% for comprehension, 24% for application, 14% for analysis, 8% for synthesis, and 0% for evaluation
