Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between independence and adjustment with the social interaction of new female students at Islamic boarding schools. The hypothesis in this study are (1) There is a positive relationship between independence and social interaction, (2) there is a positive relationship between self-adjustment and social interaction, (3) There is a relationship between Independence, Self-Adjustment and Social Interaction. The population in this study was new female students, the sample in this study were 40 new female students who had been lodged at Islamic Boarding Schools in Ta'mirul Islam for ± 6 months. The sampling technique used was cluster random sampling technique, using multiple regression analysis. The method used is quantitative with a measuring instrument in the form of Independence Scale, Self-Adjustment Scale and Social Interaction Scale. Based on data analysis, the value (rxy) = 0.574 and (p) is 0.000 (p <0.01). This means that there is a very significant positive relationship between independence and social interaction. Correlation of the adjustment variable with social interaction obtained a value (rxy) of 0.509 and (p) of 0.000 (p <0.01). This means that there is a very significant positive relationship between adjustment and social interaction of new female students at Islamic boarding schools. Between the variables of independence, adjustment, and social interaction obtained significance level of 0.000 (p <0.01) which shows that there is a very significant relationship between independence and adjustment with social interaction of new students in Islamic boarding schools. The effective contribution of independence and self adjustment affects social interaction by 37.9%.
