Abstract

Y generation has long entered the workforce. Y generation employees have a different view of the ideal job compared to previous generations. Y generation are those born in 1980-1999. Companies that must be able to respond the different worldviews of Y generation to motivate them to work. The purpose of this study is to describe the views of Y generation employees regarding the factors that motivate them to work based on the two-factor theory Frederick Herzberg. There are 4 informants in this study who are bachelor of Informatics and work in the field of information and technology. Data collection methods in this study were interviews thematically analyzed. Based on the results of this study, it is known that participants who are Y generation do not want status awards in physical form when working. In addition, in this study it was found that Y generation employees wanted clarity in Employee Safety and Regulations, were given space to be free and developed, a pleasant and equal work environment, appropriate rewards, and work life balance.
