Abstract

Ayah Subdistrict is an area with coastal tourism objects that have potential which doesn’t managed properly and the development of coastal tourism objects from one beach to another is different which causes the development of coastal tourism to be uneven. Each tourism object has a variety of potentials, including the beach. The existence of beach tourism objects encourages the emergence of economic activities, thus indirectly there is a relationship or the relationship between the potential of tourism objects, especially beaches, for economic activity. Based on this, this research aims (1) to analyze the internal and external potential of each coastal tourism object, (2) to analyze the economic activity contained in each coastal tourism object, and (3) to analyze the correlation of the potential object (internal and external) with the economic activity in the coastal tourism district of Ayah. The method used in this study was a survey method with data acquisition that includes observations and questionnaires. This study used the entire population or census for data collection. Methods of data analysis used scoring analysis method, descriptive qualitative analysis method and Pearson bivariate correlation analysis method and geographic analysis used spatial interaction analysis method. The results shows the coastal tourism object that have the highest potential is Menganti Beach with score of 57, while the lowest potential was Pecaron Beach with score of 29. The economic activity of coastal tourism objects in the Ayah Subdistrict is dominated by merchant, who mostly sell food and beverages with percentage of 79%. The results of the Pearson bivariet correlation test calculations show a significant relationship between the potential of coastal tourism with economic activity, the most significant correlation is merchant at coastal who can improve the economy of community around coastal tourism object.
