Abstract

Every student is required to show achievement in every learning process, which means that students must have achievement motivation. In the lecture process, various tasks and academic achievements are found to be achieved. This can lead to anxiety about failure. Students certainly support each other, social support for themselves can affect achievement motivation. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between social support and anxiety with achievement motivation in students. Hypotheses in research, namely: 1) there is a relationship between social support and anxiety with achievement motivation, 2) there is a positive relationship between social support and achievement motivation, 3) there is a negative relationship between anxiety and achievement motivation. The subjects in this study were psychology faculty students 1,3,5,7 and 9 semesters totaling 100 people. Data collection methods use anxiety scale, social support scale and achievement motivation scale. while data analysis uses multiple regression. Based on the analysis results obtained R = 0.546 which means there is a relationship between social support and anxiety with achievement motivation, then the correlation coefficient (rxy) of = 0.542 p = 0.000 (p <0.01) which means there is a significant positive relationship between social support with achievement motivation. And the obtained correlation coefficient (rxy) of - 0.071 and (p) of 0.241 (p> 0.01) which means there is no significant relationship between anxiety and achievement motivation.
