Abstract

Welding is one part that can not be separated in manufacturing technology, welding metal jointing can also be done by brazing method. Brazing is a way of connecting by using filler metal between the surfaces of the parent metal to be joined. The brazing process is a welding technology that is widely used in industry for the connection of materials in the form of pipes, sheets or plates. This study aims to determine the microstructure and analysis of chemical composition in the connection of the 6061 series aluminum plate with alusol fillers and local fillers with SEM and EDS. In this study using the results of welding brazed with ASME IX specimens making standards, aluminum plate 6061 series with alusol fillers and local fillers. The sample to be tested is a cut or side from the connection results of each specimen. Before scanning with SEM and EDS photo machines, the samples are cut to size on the sem-edx machine. Scan or process SEM and EDS. SEM test results for alusol fillers showed the presence of grains on an aluminum base metal which had an average diameter of 17,595 µm, the presence of holes or porosity with a diamter hole of 8.26 µm. In EDS testing in each spectrum the most element is aluminum (Al). When in spectrum 2 (filler), alusol fillers have elements other than aluminum, namely carbon (C), oxygen (O2), while local fillers have aluminum (Al), carbon (C), oxygen (O2), silicon (Si) elements and the element Zinc (Zn).
