Abstract
Fatigue or tiredness is one of the side effects of hemodialysis therapy. Fatigue can affect the quality of life especially in terms of physical, psychology, social and environment. Patients who use hemodialysis are prone to exhaustion while this can reduce the patient's quality of life. The more weakness the patient receives, the lower the quality of life obtained. This research is to see the relationship between fatigue and quality of life in kidney failure patients with hemodialysis in terms of physical, psychological, social and environmental. This study used a cross sectional design and used the Functional Assessment Chronic Illness Therapy-Fatigue Scale (FACIT-Fatigue Scale) and World Health Organization Quality Of Life-BREF (WHOQOL-BREF) questionnaire as the measurements. The sample in this study was 64 people. The statistical analysis used to test the relationships between fatigue and quality of life was the Pearson Chi-Square test. The results obtained by the majority of respondents were over ≥51-60 years (35,9%) by the age, male (64.1%) by the sex, unemployed (59.4%), and (51.6%) have undertake the hemodialysis during ≤12 months. Respondents who did not improve fatigue (53.1%) and distribution of respondents based on quality of life in the physical domain were good, quality of life in the psychological domain was moderate, quality of life in the social domain was good and quality of life in the environmental domain was good. While the relationships test proved there was a relationship between fatigue with the quality of life of kidney failure patients with hemodialysis in the physical, psychological, and domains and there was no relationship in fatigue with the quality of life in the environmental domain. With the approval of this study, it is expected to be a reference in the development of nursing science and the development in further research on the symptoms of fatigue and its effect on quality of life of kidney failure patients who use hemodialysis therapy.
