Abstract

This study aims to determine how self-acceptance in prisoners living in Boyolali Detention Center. This research uses descriptive qualitative method by taking informants using purposive sampling technique. The data collection method used a semi-structured interview technique with 3 informants who were prisoners at Boyolali Detention Center. From the results of the study it can be seen that problems in inmates at the Boyolali Detention Center include difficulties in eating, not being able to sleep, rooms are too narrow to be abandoned by loved ones. These problems affect the prisoners' self-acceptance, such as feeling themselves full of deficiencies, ashamed of the status of the prisoners they get, thus raising feelings of regret that they do not want to be repeated again. Factors that influence self-acceptance include: an understanding of oneself, the support of the closest people such as family, stigma from the community. Prisoners' self-acceptance at the Boyolali Detention House currently varies, but in general they are able to know what is able to realize what are the advantages and disadvantages so that they can be themselves while living in detention.
