Abstract

This research studies about the role of geographical indications as an instrument of legal protection for Criwik durian which is identified as a local product that has a potential to be geographical indication product of Criwik Village in Rembang Regency. The method used in this research is empirical juridical method which is descriptive and is supported by using primary and secondary data that the data collection techniques are doing the library studies and field studies (interviews). Based on the results of research and discussion, it can be concluded that Criwik durian in Rembang Regency is very feasible and has the potential to become a geographical indication product because it has fulfilled the qualifications in terms of elements and ideal features of a geographical indication product in Indonesia.
