Abstract

Land is important part of human life because land can be space and resources to fulfill human need. Land use is all kinds of regular and periodic human interference with natural and artificial resources which is called land that aim to fulfill human needs in the form of material, mental, or both of them. Changes in land use in the Mejayan sub-district have been very rapid in the past few years, influenced by the movement of the Madiun district to Caruban City, which facilitated the Mejayan sub-district and was operated in 2016. Land will not expand but the need of land will increase as time goes by. This condition is the background of research of changes in land use in sub-district Mejayan on 2013 and 2018. The aim of the study is (1) to analyze change in land use in Sub-district Mejayan (2) to know the percentage of land use change in Sub-district Mejayan and (3) to know factors that affecting land use change in Sub-district Mejayan. The method used in this study was descriptive analyst method and qualitative method used 2018 landd use map.the result shows land use in Sub-district Mejayan divided to 6 kinds of land use which is :settlement, building, rice fields,fileds, farm, and forest. Most land use occurs in Wonorejo village, land use change from forest to fields. Factors that affecting land change is government regulation regarding community forest use . land use change in Sub-district Mejayan form unbuilding to bulding mostly occurs in Kelurahan Krajan and Kelurahan Pandeyan. It happens because Kelurahan Kejayan and Kelurahan Pandeyan located at the center of the Caruban city and passes by main road that connects Solo and Surabaya.
