Abstract
Wood drying is a process to remove the water content in the wood to reach a water content that is balanced with the environment where the wood will be used without reducing the quality of the wood. In the wood drying furniture industry is the main thing because it will determine the quality of the furniture. This wood drying machine works by heating the hot liquid that will be pumped to each drying room. After that hot air is circulated throughout the room so that the temperature is balanced. when the room temperature exceeds the maximum limit, the sensor will detect and give the contactor a command to turn off the circulation motor and turn on the exhaust. This wood drying process uses many induction motors from 1 hp - 15 hp. The analysis carried out aims to determine the value of the ratio of currents and power factors when adding capacitors. Based on data obtained when the industry is operating at 375V voltage, 370A current, power factor 0.77. After adding capacitors, the power factor value is 0.99 and the current value is 281A. So it can be concluded that the addition of capacitors in a wood drying factory in Kalijambe is quite effective because it can improve the power factor from 0.77 to 0.99.
