Abstract
One industry that is not commonly found in Indonesia is the ciu or alcohol industry. The alcohol or alcohol industry is a home-based industrial business found in the lives of our people, while the industrial process of alcohol or alcohol includes the fermentation process. In the Ngombakan hamlet, Mojolaban, Sukoharjo, the alcohol industry has been developing for three decades. The negative effect of this industry is that the alcohol waste is discharged directly into rivers and rice fields, thus endangering the environment. To overcome the negative impact on the environment, it is necessary to strive for a process of treating industrial liquid waste or alcohol so that liquid waste can be utilized to reduce environmental pollution. This study aims to determine the production of biogas from ciu waste or alcohol using a simple digester with a maximum volume of 35L digester. This research uses ciu waste or alcohol with a volume variation of 22L, 25L, 28L and 31L with activated sludge added. A gas pressure with different U-vessel or manometer parameters is produced, with a different length of soaking until maximum gas is produced. Then a different length of flame was also produced in the first experiment without mixing active sludge with a volume of 22 Lt, producing a gas pressure of 5 cm and releasing energy in the form of a flame for 2.24 min. Then experiment 2 to 4 with a mixture of activated sludge with volumes of 25, 25, 31, obtained gas pressure of 10, 14, 17, and released energy in the form of a flame for 2.43, 4.9, 4.15 min. Here it can be concluded that the ciu or alcoholic waste produced can be utilized as biogas because it pollutes the river and rice fields environment which can damage the environment that has not been overcome in the Bekonang area. With this research on the other hand it can reduce the disposal of ciu or alcohol waste into the surrounding environment can also be used as an alternative energy to replace LPG gas.
