Abstract
The purpose of this study is to; 1) Describe the application of video media in the thematic learning of the lower classes at SDN Mukiran 03, 2) Describe the problems faced by the teacher in applying video media to the low grade thematic learning at Mukiran Elementary School 03, 3) Describe the solutions to overcome the teacher's problems in applying video media on low grade thematic learning at Mukiran Elementary School 03. The type of research used is a qualitative research method. Data collection techniques can be through interviews, observation, and documentation. The data analysis technique used is an interactive model covering three stages namely data reduction, data presentation, verification. Based on the results of the study found that the steps taken by low grade teachers in implementing video learning media include the planning stage, the implementation phase, and the evaluation and follow-up stages. Although learning video media has been commonly used in learning. But the teacher still experiences various obstacles in applying the media so that it does not optimize the function of video media in learning. These constraints are: a) The teacher is not yet proficient in making instructional videos, b) The means of learning video media are still lacking, c) The language in the learning video is not in accordance with the character of students, d) The teacher has difficulty managing the time during the learning process, e) Objects in learning videos that are not appropriate to the environment and character of students, f) the teacher feels inconvenience in preparing the instructional video media tools. The solution to the teacher's problem in implementing instructional video media is that teachers are sought to attend training and seminars on ICT and related to the use of instructional video media. The conclusion of this study is that teachers are expected to be able to use technology as a means of operating instructional video media and teachers are expected to be proficient with regard to making instructional videos which of course teachers must attend training on how to apply video media.
