Abstract
The prevalence of malnutrition in Indonesia to patient in hospital is 56.9%. Efforts to avoid malnutrition in patients are by providing appropriate nutrition services. Patient satisfaction with nutrition services will affect the patient's nutrients intake and affect the value of BMI and nutritional status of the patient. This study aimed to determine the correlations between food service satisfaction and intake of macro nutrients with change of BMI of adult inpatients at RSUD Ir. Soekarno in Sukoharjo Regency. This was an observational study with a cross-sectional design. Data were collected by performing on 24 adult 3rd class hospitalized patients with a food service satisfaction questionnaire, 2x24 hour recall form, and anthropometric measurements for BMI twice at beginning (1 day after nutritional screening) and end (3 days later). The technique of taking sample used a purposive sample. The results of the study is calculated by rank spearman statistical analysis. Most of the patients were very satisfied (68%) for satisfaction of food services and the remaining were satisfied. The average adequacy of energy intake was 74,9%, protein intake 70,38%, fat intake 86,8%, and carbohydrate intake 79,56%. The average BMI at the beginning of hospital admission was 24,2 kg/m2 and become 24,16 kg/m2 after 3 days later. The change of BMI for 3 days was -0,06 kg/m2. There was no correlations between food service satisfaction with change of BMI (p=0,657), and there was no relationship between energy intake (p=0,356), protein (p=0,462), fat (0,533), and carbohydrate (p=0,362) with change of BMI. The hospital should monitor the BMI of the patient so they can find out if there’s a change.
