Abstract
Classroom assessment management is needed as a measuring tool in the development of student learning outcomes. One of them is finding learning difficulties that some students might face. This study aims to (1) explain the classroom assessment management system in learning biology by utilizing diagnostics (2) describing the assessment techniques used to determine the level of learning difficulties of students in learning biology by utilizing diagnostics (3) explaining the development of classroom assessment management in biology learning by utilize diagnostics. This type of research uses descriptive qualitative methods with case study design. The research location is in Muhammadiyah 1 Kartasura Middle School. Data collection techniques are done through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques are carried out in stages, namely reducing data, presenting data in the form of pictures or tables, and drawing conclusions or verification. Sources of data in the form of student learning outcomes, results of interviews of principals, subject teachers, and students of class VIII. The results showed that (1) Management of classroom assessments arranged in a learning continuum made it easier for educators to obtain student learning outcomes data that could provide feedback on learning that had occurred in the classroom (2) Assessment techniques carried out in the form of tests (achievement tests) and non tests (practicum tests of food content) and brief interviews. The teacher uses diagnostics to identify learning difficulties that occur in the material of the human digestive system. Learning difficulties experienced by students in understanding the concepts and indicators of problems, the ability of students to think critically is still weak and less careful in relating problems to questions and answers, knowing the scientific name and local language of organs and human digestive enzymes. (3) Development of classroom assessments needs to be carried out with natural science teachers especially biology through coaching and training with more structured and effective learning tool products.
