Abstract

This study aims to describe the potential of the Umbul Ponggok region towards the development of superior tourism in Klaten Regency and to describe the role of the community in utilizing the spring as a leading tourist attraction in the village of Ponggok, Polanharjo, Klaten in 2019. Ponggok village has abundant water potential, this case evidenced by the presence of several pennant such as pennant pennant, capillary, sigedhang, and besuki pennant. Some other potentials include food management, lodging, Ponggok Ciblon Resto and swimming pools and fisheries potential. Supported by the very active role of the community both from the decision-making process, the implementation of activities, evaluation activities to the utilization of the results and the development of sufficient potential as well as the existence of sufficient supporting factors for tourism activities, it can be said if Ponggok pennant is one of the leading water tourism in Klaten Regency. The research was carried out in Ponggok Village, Polanharjo District, Klaten Regency. Data collection techniques in this study using the method of observation, interviews and documentation or archives. The results showed that the role of the community greatly influenced the development of tourism as well as excellent potential management, making the ponggok village the best tourism destination in Klaten Regency. The indicators in this study are the role of the community, the level of welfare, economic benefits, planning in development and safety
