Abstract

Flyover is an overpass that was built to deal with traffic congestion problems, one of the service facilities that plays a role in improving traffic safety and efficiency. On the other hand, the purpose of the flyover development is that the development has an impact on the environment. Changes in the environment also affect the activities of the community, especially business people who are around the flyover. The purpose of this study is (1) Determine the socioeconomic impact of businesses around the flyover after the flyover, (2) Know the sustainability of the business operators around the flyover after the flyover. Research conducted has a background with the existence of the Manahan flyover to tackle congestion in the city of Surakarta and create conditions after the Manahan flyover was built. The impact of the existence of a flyover is not solely for the sake of road users, but there needs to be attention to the surrounding population and the environment which are directly experiencing changes in terms of socio-economy. Research with this qualitative method utilizes primary and secondary data in data processing and uses a spatial approach using interview methods with an emphasis on the distribution of types of businesses, the impact experienced by business actors and how to maintain the sustainability of their businesses. The socioeconomic impact of businesses around the Manahan flyover was analyzed using primary data from field surveys. Spatial interactions that affect the sustainability of business actors with qualitative descriptive. The results of the research are (1) The impact of the socio-economic conditions of businesses around the flyover after the flyover has changed in the form of moving the location of street vendors, the narrow parking area of the shops around because of the expansion of the road and a decrease in turnover due to various factors. (2) Continuity of business operators around a flyover after a flyover is an increase in marketing promotion for the sake of continuing business even though many business actors suffer losses that go out of business or go bankrupt due to locations that are no longer strategic.
